MENS SOCCER GETS READY FOR THREE GAMES THIS WEEK; TRAVELS TO HARTFORD TUESDAY NIGHT TO TAKE ON THE HAWKS
SMITHFIELD, RI- Following a weekend where they registered a 0-1-1 record at the Pitt Invitational Tournament, the Bryant University mens soccer will get ready for three games this week, taking on the University of Hartford Tuesday night before heading off on another weekend trip to Virginia to play Old Dominion and James Madison. The Bulldogs had a tough start to their trip down to Pittsburgh, losing in overtime to the host Panthers, 2-1, on a goal just nine minutes into the extra session. Bryant bounced back against Robert Morris on Sunday morning, playing to a scoreless tie in rainy conditions. Junior keeper Neil Black made seven saves on his way to a shutout. Senior forward Matt Brown (South Easton, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Norbert Guery (Andover, Mass.) were both named to the All-Tournament team.

BULLDOGS AND COLONIALS PLAY TO, 0-0, TIE IN FINAL GAME OF PITT INVITATIONAL; GUERY AND BROWN NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
PITTSBURGH, Pa.- Junior goalkeeper Neil Black (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) made seven stops in net to record a shutout as the Bryant University mens soccer team played to a scoreless tie against Robert Morris (1-3-1) on Sunday morning. The Bulldogs finished with a 0-1-1 record over the weekend, good for third place in the Pitt Invitational Tournament. Senior forward Matt Brown (South Easton, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Norbert Guery (Andover, Mass.) were both named to the All-Tournament team. Brown registered four shots with two on net in two games, while Guery played steady defense, helping hold opponents to just two goals.

BULLDOGS FALL TO PANTHERS, 2-1, IN OVERTIME
PITTSBURGH, Pa.- Redshirt freshman Sam Luffy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) put home a goal just nine minutes into overtime to lift the University of Pittsburgh (3-1-1) to a thrilling 2-1 win over Bryant on Friday night. The goal came after senior forward E.J. McCormick (Pittsburgh, Pa.) crossed a ball through the goal mouth that found Luffy who put the ball into the side netting, beating Bulldog keeper Neil Black (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) and handing the Bulldogs (1-3-0) their third loss of the season. It was the Panthers third win of the season, pushing their undefeated streak to four straight games.

MENS SOCCER GEARS UP FOR PITT INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND
SMITHFIELD, RI- After getting its first Division I victory under their belts, the Bryant University men's soccer team looks to build off that win in a weekend tournament at the University of Pittsburgh. The Bulldogs took down the University of Richmond on Sunday, 2-0, after losing their first two matches of the season at Marquette, 4-1, and at VCU, 3-0. This weekend, Coach Purcell's squad is ready to take on Pitt Friday night (7 p.m.) and Robert Morris Sunday afternoon (12 p.m.) at the Pitt Men's Soccer Invitational Tournament.

BULLDOGS GRAB FIRST D1 WIN, BEAT RICHMOND 2-0
RICHMOND,VA - After dropping the first two games of the season, the Bryant University men's soccer team earned their first win as a Division I program, as they downed the Richmond Spiders 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in their final game of the Nike/Alltel Classic. Senior midfielder Manny Rodriguez (North Branford, Conn.) scored what would prove to be the game winning goal in the 27th minute of play off an assist from his brother, freshman Robb Rodriguez (North Branford, Conn.). Robb Rodriguez recovered a loose ball down the left sideline, and fed the ball across the box to his brother who scored from 10 yards out. The goal would be the only scoring of the first half, as the Bulldogs went into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.

Men's Soccer Season Comes to an End with Loss to UMass Lowell in NE-10 Quarterfinals
SMITHFIELD, RI The Bryant men's soccer season came to a close Sunday evening as the Bulldogs dropped a heartbreaker to UMass Lowell in the Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinals. After both teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and two overtime periods, it was the River Hawks earning the right to advance to the semifinals on penalty kicks.

DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Bryant men's soccer team broke open a 1-1 game with four unanswered goals to defeat host St. Thomas Aquinas, 5-1 Monday afternoon in non-conference action. The Bulldogs, who outshot the Spartans 21 to 9 in the game, got goals from Taylor Sabo, Sean Kaukas, Ryan Aspinall, Matthew Brown and Connor Moore in the victory. Neil Black picked up the win in goal, making two saves on the day.

SMITHFIELD, RI Kyle Tierney's (Westborough, Mass.) goal in the 61st minute broke a 1-1 tie and proved to be the game-winner as the Bryant men's soccer team held on for a 2-1 win over Assumption College at a chilly Bryant Turf Complex Tuesday night. With the win, Bryant improves to 10-6 overall and 6-6 in the NE-10. Assumption drops to 4-9-3 (3-7-2 NE-10). The Bulldogs travel to AIC on Saturday.

The Bulldogs got a goal from Michael Gargiulo in the 38th minute but gave up two second half goals to the Skyhawks to drop to 7-5 on the season, 4-5 in the NE-10.

SMITHFIELD, RI Henning Come (Gothenburg, Sweden), David Clifton (London, England), and Peter Petropanagos (Mississauga, Ontario) each had goal to lead fifth-ranked Franklin Pierce University to a 3-0 Northeast-10 Conference mens soccer victory over host Bryant University Saturday afternoon. The win for the Ravens is the schools first in Smithfield, RI under coach Marco Koolman and the first since 1999. Bryant drops to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the NE-10. The Bulldogs will host Saint Anselm Tuesday evening at 7 pm.

The Bryant mens soccer team has its two-game winning streak snapped as they were shutout by UMass-Lowell, ranked 22th nationally, 1-0 Wednesday night The game was scoreless until the 87th minute when Matt Dubois tapped in a crossing feed from Edena Chery. Jose Esteves notched the secondary assist on Dubois fourth goal of the season. The Bulldogs (5-2-0, 2-2-0 NE-10) will host Saint Rose Saturday (1 p.m.) at Bulldog Stadium.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. The Bryant mens soccer team won its third straight match Monday afternoon, blanking Dominican College, ranked 25th nationally, 1-0 at Bulldog Stadium. Ryan Aspinall (Clinton, CT) scored the only goal, his third of the season in the 18th minute. The sophomore put home a pretty crossing pass from freshman Sean Kaukas (Glastonbury, CT). SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University men's soccer team welcomes seven newcomers to the squad for the 2007 season. They will also welcome two players who return to Head Coach Seamus Purcell's squad after not playing in 2006. Led by captains Mike Gargiulo and Kyle Tierney, the Bulldogs will train in Hawaii in late August and take on Hawaii Pacific University and Chaminade University of Hawaii on Aug. 24-25. Their home opener is September 8th vs Southern N.H. at 11 a.m. The Bulldogs finished 2006 with a 8-5-3 record.

Men's Soccer Falls to Stonehill College 3-1 Tuesday
EASTON, Mass. - The Bryant University men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer game at Stonehill College, Tuesday in Easton, Mass. The Bulldogs got a goal from Michael Gargiulo in the 38th minute but gave up two second half goals to the Skyhawks to drop to 7-5 on the season, 4-5 in the NE-10.

SYRACUSE, NY - The Bryant men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer decision Saturday afternoon at Le Moyne College. The Bulldogs trailed 1-0 at the half as Le Moyne scored midway through the first half on a goal from Eric Macias to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room at the break. The Bulldogs travel to Stonehill Tuesday.

Fifth-Ranked Franklin Pierce Defeats Bryant 3-0 in Men's Soccer Saturday
SMITHFIELD, RI Henning Come (Gothenburg, Sweden), David Clifton (London, England), and Peter Petropanagos (Mississauga, Ontario) each had goal to lead fifth-ranked Franklin Pierce University to a 3-0 Northeast-10 Conference mens soccer victory over host Bryant University Saturday afternoon. The win for the Ravens is the schools first in Smithfield, RI under coach Marco Koolman and the first since 1999. Bryant drops to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the NE-10. The Bulldogs will host Saint Anselm Tuesday evening at 7 pm.

The Bryant mens soccer team has its two-game winning streak snapped as they were shutout by UMass-Lowell, ranked 22th nationally, 1-0 Wednesday night The game was scoreless until the 87th minute when Matt Dubois tapped in a crossing feed from Edena Chery. SMITHFIELD, R.I. The Bryant mens soccer team won its third straight match Monday afternoon, blanking Dominican College, ranked 25th nationally, 1-0 at Bulldog Stadium. Ryan Aspinall (Clinton, CT) scored the only goal, his third of the season in the 18th minute. The sophomore put home a pretty crossing pass from freshman Sean Kaukas (Glastonbury, CT). The Bulldogs (5-1, 3-1 NE-10) will take their second-ranked opponent in three days, as they head to UMass-Lowell, who is ranked fifth nationally, Wednesday (7 p.m.).

Brown Posts Goal and Assist in 3-1 Win Over Bentley
WALTHAM, Mass. Sophomore forward Matthew Brown (South Easton) scored the equalizer and assisted on the game-winning goal to help Bryant top Bentley, 3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference mens soccer action on Wednesday afternoon at the Bentley Soccer Complex. Gargiulo's OT Goal Leads Men's Soccer to 2-1 Victory over Hawaii Pacific
Kaneohe, Hawaii - Senior co-captain Mike Gargiulo (North Branford, CT) scored the game-winning goal in overtime (102nd minute) to give the Bryant men's soccer team its first win of the season, 2-1 over Hawaii Pacific Friday afternoon in Hawaii. Gargiulo punched in the loose ball after a Ryan Aspinall (Clinton, CT) shot was knocked down in front. The Bulldogs got on the board first, as freshman Norbert Guery (Andover, MA) tallied his first collegiate goal, taking a pass from classmate Sean Kaukas (Glastonbury, CT) and firing it past Sea Warrior goaltender Sean Terry, who made five saves. The Bulldogs (1-0) will take on Chaminade University Saturday night (10 pm eastern).

The team will return to the field the next day, takign on Chaminade University Saturday. Both matches start at 4 p.m. in Hawaii (10 p.m. Eastern time). The Bulldogs, who were picked to finish eighth in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll, are scheduled to take on Southern N.H. in their home opener Saturday September 8th at 11 a.m.

Men's Soccer Announces Class of 2011
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University men's soccer team welcomes seven newcomers to the squad for the 2007 season. They will also welcome two players who return to Head Coach Seamus Purcell's squad after not playing in 2006. Led by captains Mike Gargiulo and Kyle Tierney, the Bulldogs will train in Hawaii in late August and take on Hawaii Pacific University and Chaminade University of Hawaii on Aug. 24-25. Their home opener is September 8th vs Southern N.H. at 11 a.m. The Bulldogs finished 2006 with a 8-5-3 record.
