MEN'S SOCCER ANNOUNCES DATES FOR SUMMER CLINIC AND OVERNIGHT CAMP
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant Men's soccer program will be hosting an overnight camp beginning Friday, July 10th at 1 p.m. and conlcuding Sunday, July 12th at 4 p.m, as well as a two-day long clinic taking place Wednesday, July 8th and Thursday, July 9th.

MEN'S SOCCER CONCLUDES FIRST SEASON OF DIVISION I PLAY
SMITHFIELD, RI- The Bryant University men’s soccer team concluded its inaugural season of Division I play with a, 4-0, loss at Albany Saturday. After 38 years of Division II play, the Bulldogs took the first step in a four-year transition period this season. The squad finished the season with a 1-14-1 record, playing a brutal schedule that included two top-25 opponents (Brown and Providence) as well as trips to Old Dominion, James Madison, Pittsburgh, Richmond, and Virginia Commonwealth.

MEN'S SOCCER FALLS IN SEASON FINALE, 4-0, TO ALBANY SATURDAY AFTERNOON
ALBANY - A pair of goals from L.J. Papaleo led the University at Albany to a 4-0 win over the Bryant University men's soccer team Saturday afternoon in the Bulldogs' final game of their inaugural Division I season.

MEN'S SOCCER DOWNED BY FRIARS, 2-0, AT GLAY FIELD WEDNESDAY
PROVIDENCE, RI- The Bryant Bulldogs hung with Providence for the first 45 minutes of play, but a goal by Tim Ritter 56 seconds into the second half helped the Friars down the visiting Bulldogs, 2-0, in Providence Wednesday afternoon.

BULLDOGS BATTLE 24TH RANKED BROWN TUESDAY NIGHT
SMITHFIELD, RI- The Bryant University men’s soccer team will travel to Providence, Rhode Island Tuesday for a battle under the lights against the 24th ranked Brown Bears. The Bulldogs broke an eight game scoreless streak on Sunday in a 3-1 loss to Fordham. Senior captain Manny Rodriguez (North Branford, Conn.) put home a penalty kick in the 57th minute to finally break through for Bryant, but the Bulldogs could not capitalize on a few late chances, and fell to the Rams for their eighth straight loss. Bryant also lost two other games last week, with a 5-0 loss to Central Connecticut, and then suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Long Island on senior day. The Bulldogs have just three games remaining on their schedule, as they finish up on the road against Brown, Providence, and Albany.

THREE FIRST HALF GOALS BURN BULLDOGS; FALL TO FORDHAM, 3-1, SUNDAY AFTERNOON
BRONX, NY- Senior captain Manny Rodriguez (North Branford, Conn.) scored his second goal of the season on a penalty kick in the second half, but it was not enough as Bryant fell to Fordham, 3-1, Sunday afternoon. The goal broke an eight game scoreless streak for Bryant, who fell to 1-11-1 with the loss. Fordham improved to 4-4-1, as they head into Atlantic-10 play this week.

LONG ISLAND SPOILS BULLDOG SENIOR DAY WITH 2-0 VICTORY
SMITHFIELD, RI- Playing in their lone contest of the year, the Bryant University men’s soccer lost a hard fought match to Long Island University, 2-0, Friday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium. Prior to the game, Bryant honored its two seniors, Matt Brown (South Easton, Mass.) and Manny Rodriguez (North Branford, Conn.), for their hard-work and dedication to the program over the last four years. The Blackbirds (5-4-0), who had come into play owning a 4-game win streak, were able to extend their streak to five games thanks to two second half goals.

BLUE DEVILS BEAT BULLDOGS, 5-0, IN MEN'S SOCCER ACTION WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
NEW BRITAIN, CT- The Bryant University men’s soccer team played Central Connecticut State even for the first 50 minutes of play, but the Blue Devils responded with five goals over the final 40 minutes to take down the Bulldogs, 5-0. It was the sixth straight loss for the Bulldogs (1-9-1), who have gone scoreless in their last seven. The Blue Devils have now won four of their last five, improving their record to 6-2-1.

MEN’S SOCCER TRAVELS TO CENTRAL CONNECTICUT WEDNESDAY; PLAY HOME OPENER FRIDAY AFTERNOON AGAINST LONG ISLAND
SMITHFIELD, RI- Losers of their last five games, the Bulldogs men’s soccer team looks to get back on track as they travel to take on Central Connecticut State University before playing their home opener on Friday against Long Island. Bryant makes a quick turnaround, heading back on the road Sunday to play Fordham. The Bulldogs will have played 11 straight road games to start the season before their first and only home game of the year. Bryant dropped two games over the weekend, falling 4-0 at the hands of Maine, and then 3-0 at St. Francis (NY). The Bulldogs played St. Francis even for the majority of the game, but were burned on three free kicks that led to all three Terrier goals. Freshman Andrew Snell (South Salem, N.Y.), who got his first career start, made four saves in 90 minutes.

BULLDOGS BLANKED BY TERRIERS, 3-0, SATURDAY AFTERNOON
BROOKLYN, NY- The Bryant University men’s soccer team fell to future NEC rival St. Francis (NY), 3-0, in Brooklyn, New York Saturday afternoon. The Terriers (6-1-1), who came into the game ranked third in the North Atlantic Region according to this week’s NSCAA/Adidas poll, received goals from three different players on their way to their fourth straight win. The Bulldogs (1-8-1) were held scoreless for the sixth straight game and have now dropped five straight.

MEN’S SOCCER DOWNED BY MAINE, 4-0, FRIDAY AFTERNOON
ORONO, ME- Freshman forward Ross Seagram (Dexter, Mich.) tallied two goals to lead the University of Maine past Bryant, 4-0, Friday afternoon. Both of Seagram’s goals came in the second half, beating Bulldog keepers Neil Black (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) in the 50th minute and freshman Andrew Snell (South Salem, N.Y.) in the 89th minute. The loss was the fourth in a row for Bryant, while Maine has picked up two wins in its last four games.

BULLDOGS TRY TO SNAP LOSING STREAK; TRAVEL TO MAINE AND ST. FRANCIS THIS WEEKEND
SMITHFIELD, RI- After suffering three straight losses last week, the Bryant University men’s soccer team looks to snap a five game winless streak as they travel to take on the University of Maine and St. Francis College this weekend. The Bulldogs were shutout in all three matches last week, and have managed just four goals on the season through eight games. The squad suffered a 3-0 loss at Hartford followed by a trip to Virginia that featured a 7-0 loss to defending Colonial Athletic Association champions, Old Dominion, and a 5-0 loss to James Madison. Bryant is still in search of their first road win of the season (0-6-1 record), with their first Division I win coming at a neutral site when they beat the Richmond Spiders , 2-0, at VCU.

BULLDOGS LOSE 3rd STRAIGHT; FALL TO JAMES MADISON, 5-0, SUNDAY
HARRISONBURG, VA- James Madison received goals from five different players, as they beat the Bulldogs, 5-0, in men’s soccer action Sunday afternoon. The Dukes (3-2-2) are now undefeated in their last five games, putting up a 3-0-2 record during that time. On the other side, it was their third straight loss for the Bulldogs (1-6-1) as they are now winless in their last five games, unable to find the back of the net in each of those contests. Joel Senior (Washington, D.C.) started the scoring for the Dukes in the first half when Jason Gannon (Vienna, Va.) lofted a ball into the box that Senior collected and finished for the 1-0 lead just six minutes into the game.

OLD DOMINION KNOCKS OFF BRYANT, 7-0, IN MEN'S SOCCER ACTION FRIDAY NIGHT
NORFOLK, VA- Junior forward Steffen Rabben (Fagernes, Valdres, Norway) and sophomore forward T.J. Bealieu (Apex, N.C.) each had six points to lead the Old Dominion Monarchs over Bryant, 7-0, Friday night. Rabben put home a hat trick, the second straight against the Bulldogs, as he scored three straight goals in the 17th, 43rd, and 61st minutes. Bealieu, who assisted on one of Rabben’s goals, added two goals of his own along with dishing out two assists. The loss dropped Bryant to 1-5-1 on the season, as the squad is now winless in their last four matches.

VILLA PUTS UP HAT TRICK AS HAWKS SHUT DOWN BULLDOGS, 3-0
HARTFORD, CT- Junior forward Carlos Villa (Las Conchas, Guatemala) found the back of the net three times to score his fifth, sixth, and seventh goals of the season, as Hartford shutout Bryant, 3-0, Tuesday night in Connecticut. It was the Bulldogs fourth loss of the season, as they fall to 1-4-1. Villa, the team’s leading goal scorer, got the Hawks (2-2-2) on the board early, taking a shot from straight on that beat goalie Neil Black (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) making the score 1-0. That would not be all in the first half for the junior, as Sam Groves (Sutton, Mass.) found Villa in the 34th minute for his second of the match and sixth of the season, staking the Hawks to a 2-0 lead at the half.

MEN’S SOCCER GETS READY FOR THREE GAMES THIS WEEK; TRAVELS TO HARTFORD TUESDAY NIGHT TO TAKE ON THE HAWKS
SMITHFIELD, RI- Following a weekend where they registered a 0-1-1 record at the Pitt Invitational Tournament, the Bryant University men’s soccer will get ready for three games this week, taking on the University of Hartford Tuesday night before heading off on another weekend trip to Virginia to play Old Dominion and James Madison. The Bulldogs had a tough start to their trip down to Pittsburgh, losing in overtime to the host Panthers, 2-1, on a goal just nine minutes into the extra session. Bryant bounced back against Robert Morris on Sunday morning, playing to a scoreless tie in rainy conditions. Junior keeper Neil Black made seven saves on his way to a shutout. Senior forward Matt Brown (South Easton, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Norbert Guery (Andover, Mass.) were both named to the All-Tournament team.

BULLDOGS AND COLONIALS PLAY TO, 0-0, TIE IN FINAL GAME OF PITT INVITATIONAL; GUERY AND BROWN NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
PITTSBURGH, Pa.- Junior goalkeeper Neil Black (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) made seven stops in net to record a shutout as the Bryant University men’s soccer team played to a scoreless tie against Robert Morris (1-3-1) on Sunday morning. The Bulldogs finished with a 0-1-1 record over the weekend, good for third place in the Pitt Invitational Tournament. Senior forward Matt Brown (South Easton, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Norbert Guery (Andover, Mass.) were both named to the All-Tournament team. Brown registered four shots with two on net in two games, while Guery played steady defense, helping hold opponents to just two goals.

BULLDOGS FALL TO PANTHERS, 2-1, IN OVERTIME
PITTSBURGH, Pa.- Redshirt freshman Sam Luffy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) put home a goal just nine minutes into overtime to lift the University of Pittsburgh (3-1-1) to a thrilling 2-1 win over Bryant on Friday night. The goal came after senior forward E.J. McCormick (Pittsburgh, Pa.) crossed a ball through the goal mouth that found Luffy who put the ball into the side netting, beating Bulldog keeper Neil Black (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) and handing the Bulldogs (1-3-0) their third loss of the season. It was the Panthers third win of the season, pushing their undefeated streak to four straight games.

BULLDOGS GRAB FIRST D1 WIN, BEAT RICHMOND 2-0
RICHMOND,VA - After dropping the first two games of the season, the Bryant University men's soccer team earned their first win as a Division I program, as they downed the Richmond Spiders 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in their final game of the Nike/Alltel Classic. Senior midfielder Manny Rodriguez (North Branford, Conn.) scored what would prove to be the game winning goal in the 27th minute of play off an assist from his brother, freshman Robb Rodriguez (North Branford, Conn.). Robb Rodriguez recovered a loose ball down the left sideline, and fed the ball across the box to his brother who scored from 10 yards out. The goal would be the only scoring of the first half, as the Bulldogs went into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.

MEN'S SOCCER BLANKED BY RAMS, 3-0, FRIDAY NIGHT
RICHMOND,VA - The Virginia Commonwealth Rams (1-2-0), got two goals from sophomore Jorit Loehr (Bremen, Germany) on their way to a, 3-0, win over Bryant Friday night in Richmond, Virginia. VCU outshot the Bulldogs 18-6 in the contest, as sophomore goalkeeper Victor Tutino (Deer Park, N.Y.) made 6 stops in net for Bryant.

MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO MARQUETTE, 4-1, IN SEASON OPENER
MILWAUKEE, WI- Anthony Colaizzi (Gurnee, Ill.) scored two goals and added one assist as Marquette University (1-0-0) took down Bryant University , 4-1, in both teams' season opener in Milwaukee Monday night. Freshman Robb Rodriguez (North Branford, Conn.) recorded his first career goal on the only goal of the match for the Bulldogs. Neil Black (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) recorded five saves in net as the Bulldogs were outshot 16-5 in the contest.

MEN'S SOCCER GETS SET FOR D1 PLAY, TAKES ON MARQUETTE MONDAY
SMITHFIELD, RI- After recording double-digit wins in 2007, the Bryant University men's soccer team will embark on a new journey in Division I play. The Bulldogs finished the 2007 campaign with an 11-7-1 record, but were eliminated from the Northeast-10 conference tournament in the quarterfinals . The 11-wins were the second-highest total for the Bulldogs under the direction of Head Coach Seamus Purcell, and the first 10-win season since 2001.

BRYANT TIES AIC, 1-1, IN EXHIBITION GAME SUNDAY
The Bryant men's soccer team and American International played to a 1-1 draw in Smithfield, Rhode Island on Sunday, Aug. 17. Junior forward Matthew Brown (South Easton, Mass.) got the scoring started in the 10th minute of play on an assist from sophomore midfielder Sean Kaukas (Glatonbury, Conn.) to stake the Bulldogs to a 1-0 lead.

MEN'S SOCCER TO HOST BULLDOG SUMMER CLINIC & SCOUT DAY JULY 8 AND 9
SMITHFIELD, RI -- The Bryant University men's soccer team announces its Bulldog Summer Clinic & Scout Days, to be held July 8 and July 9, 2008. Each camp is a day-long clinic intended for high school sophomores and juniors who have an interest in playing at Bryant University or at the collegiate level. The day-long camp will be divided into position-specific drills, technical stations, small-sided games and 11 vs. 11 matches. In addition to instruction on the field, the camp will also give the athletes a direct insight into Bryant University itself, the men's soccer program, admissions requirements, financial aid packaging and the career services department.
