MEN'S SOCCER DOWNED BY MAINE, 4-0, FRIDAY AFTERNOON

ORONO, ME- Freshman forward Ross Seagram (Dexter, Mich.) tallied two goals to lead the University of Maine past Bryant, 4-0, Friday afternoon. Both of Seagram's goals came in the second half, beating Bulldog keepers Neil Black (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) in the 50th minute and freshman Andrew Snell (South Salem, N.Y.) in the 89th minute. The loss was the fourth in a row for Bryant, while Maine has picked up two wins in its last four games.

Leading scorer Nickola Bogdanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) got the Black Bears on the board in the first half, striking the ball from a direct kick into the back of the net in the 23rd minute, staking Maine to a 1-0 lead at the half. The Bulldogs had stayed in the game going into the halftime break despite being outshot 9-1 in the first half. The Black Bears would add an insurance goal early in the second half when Seagram scored the first of his two goals off an assist from Philip Reed (Gorham, Maine). Maine would then add a goal in the 72nd minute off the foot Dmitri Anastasiou (Colchester, Conn.) that tipped off the hand of Snell, but still found its way past the goal line, making the score 3-0. Seagram would put home his second goal of the contest with just 13 ticks remaining on the clock, giving the Black Bears a 4-0 shutout win in their home opener.

Black made four saves in 50 minutes of play while Snell made three saves in his 40 minutes for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Norbert Guery (Andover, Mass.) recorded the lone shot on goal for Bryant, as the squad was outshout 19-6, with the Black Bears putting 11 on net. Maine keeper Nemanja Kostic (New Belgrade, Serbia) stopped one shot on his way to the shutout.

The Bulldogs will next travel to play future NEC rival St. Francis (NY) Sunday (1:30 p.m.).
