MEN'S SWIMMING FALLS TO BC, 130-113 IN FIRST DIVISION I DUAL MEET ON HALLOWEEN
CHESTNUT HILL, MA- In its first Division I dual meet, the Bryant Unversity men's swim team fell to Boston College 130-113 on Halloween. The Eagles received a strong performance from Peter Ferguson, who won both the 50 yard and 100 yard freestyle events.
Senior Tom Ferrigno (West Chester, Penn.) led the way for the Bulldogs, grabbing victories in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:56.61 and the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.60.
The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Zach Bowen (Linchefield, N.H.), Mike Gilligan (Cheshire, Conn.), Ray Savner (Bethlehem, Conn.) and Kevin McDonald (North Haven, Conn.) took down first place, finishing with a time of 1:31.35. Gilligan put up a strong second leg time, swimming a 22.44 to help give the Bulldogs the edge.
Bowen would go on to win the 100 yard butterfly in front of teammate Matt Derwin (Cheshire, Conn.).
Savner also finished third in the 50 yard freestyle, while other notable finishers were John Cieslewski coming in second in the 100 yard breasktroke, and Steven Nguyen (San Jose, Calif.) recording a time of 1:50.02 to finish second in the 200 yard freestyle.
The Bulldogs get ready for another meet on Sunday, when they travel to URI for a tri-meet with the Rams and Maine (11 a.m.).
