Men's and Women's Swimming Opens Inaugural Season With Home Meet

SMITHFIELD, RI - The pool deck and lobby was packed with student, parents, and supporters last weekend as the Bryant University men's and women's swim teams kicked off their inaugural seaons with a home tri-meet with Roger Williams and Simon's Rock. 

 Both teams were victorious in team scoring in the meet with Simon's Rock while Roger Williams took first in dual scoring with the Bulldogs on both in both men's and women's events.

In the men's 1,000 freestyle, Nate Olszewski (Blandford, Mass.) took first in a time of 11 minutes, 57.40 seconds while Tom Desbiens (Hope Valley, RI) was fourthi n 13:56.71. 

Ray Savner (Bethlehem, Pa.) took home first place honors in the 50 free in 23.66 seconds and later took first in the 100 free in 53.11. 

On the women's side, Kim Noto (Southington, Conn.) was first in both the 50 free (26.91) and 200 yard freestyle in 2:11.87.   Andrea Geoffrey (Belchertown, Mass.) took home a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke, touching the wall in 1:06.87. 

The Bulldogs will travel to Clark on Saturday and Colby-Sawyer this Sunday.
