SWIMMING TEAMS OPEN STRONG AT NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sending a total of 10 competitors to the New England Swimming Championships, the Bryant men are currently 10th and the women 20th after Friday's opening day competion at Western New England College. This is Bryant's first season of competing in the swimming championships.
The Bryant men earned 24 points with the women earning 30. The Bryant men's 200 yard freestyle relay team of Chris Desmarais, Nate Olszewski, Tom Desbiens, and Ray Savner finished in 9th place overall in the finals in 1:36.74. Kristen Brekne took ninth in the 100 yard butterfly, finishing in 1:04.78 to earn 12 points for the women.
Savner turned in an outstanding performance in the finals of the men's 50 free, finishing in third overall in 22.31 seconds, good enough to earn 12 points.
