Bryant falls to PC in Season-Opener

PROVIDENCE- In the season opener for both teams, Providence got the best of in state rival Bryant Wednesday night at the Taylor Natatorium. The Friars' defeated the men's team 102-73 and the women's 124-73.
There were several bright spots however for the Bulldogs. Junior Ray Savner, one of the top returning swimmers, captured two victories. In the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.62 seconds and the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 56.70 seconds. Freshman John Cieslewski, making his Bryant debut, took home a win in the 100-meter breastroke with a time of 1:13.26.
The women were led by freshman Jessica Looney who took home two wins in her collegiate debut. Looney grabbed the win in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 9:43.88 and the 200- meter freestyle in 2:14.91.

Both teams won their respective 200-meter freestyle relays. The men's "A" team with a time of 2:00.36 and the women's 'A' team with a time of 1:57.54.
The Bulldogs will return to action in a busy upcoming weekend. On Saturday the team will travel to Bristol, RI to face Roger Williams before traveling to the Bentley Invitational on Sunday.
