MEN TAKE DOWN UMASS DARTMOUTH ON SENIOR DAY, 94-82
SMITHFIELD, RI -- In their last home meet of the 2007-08 season, the men's and women's swim teams both came away with a win over UMass Dartmouth Wednesday night at the Chace Athletic Center. The men trumped the Corsairs, 94-82, while the women cruised to a 126-74 victory.
With two seniors, captains Jamie MacDougall (Waltham, Mass.) and Ray Savner (Bethlehem, Conn.) swimming their final laps at the Chace Athletic Center, the men made the last home meet of the season a happy one. Led by three wins by junior Tom Ferrigno (West Chester, Penn.), the men won all but two events.
Ferrigno touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.09), the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.20) and the 200-yard IM (2:12.91). Freshmen Matt Derwin (Cheshire, Conn.) and Steven Nyugen (San Jose, Calif.) both earned two first-place finishes apiece.
The men and women next compete at Saint Michael's on January 26. Start time is 11:00 a.m.
