MEN'S TENNIS FINISHES PLAY AT QUINNIPIAC INVITATIONAL

HAMDEN, CONN- Cristian Balestrieri (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) and Tom Nowak (Medfield, Mass.) each reached the semi-finals in their respective singles brackets, but lost hard-fought matches over the weekend at the Quinnipiac Invitational. Balestrieri lost to Kirill Kasyanov of Sacred Heart, 7-5, 6-2, after wining his first two matches. Nowak won his quarterfinal match , 6-3, 6-2, but then fell to Fairfield's Joe Michalsin, 6-4, 6-1.

Freshman Daniel Cournoyer (Jefferson, Mass.) looked good in fourth singles, winning his first two matches before losing in the semi-finals. Cournoyer beat Dillon Kraus, 6-3, 6-4, following that up with a, 6-4, 6-2, victory over Bob Kelly.

Nowak also had a strong weekend playing in first singles with partner Dylan Whiting (Florence, Mass.). The pair lost in the semi-finals to UConn, 8-4.

Whiting, Nicholai Hill (Ottawa, Canada), and Jose Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru), all won their first round matches, before falling in the second round.

Bryant will play in the ITA's this weekend.
