Men's Tennis Regroups For Big Win Sunday at Boston University

MEN'S TENNIS BOUNCES BACK STRONG WITH WIN OVER BOSTON UNIVERSITY

BOSTON - Less than 12 hours after dropping a tough 5-2 decision that didn't end until late Saturday night, the Bryant men's tennis team regrouped and picked up a big 4-3 win at Boston University Sunday afternoon.  The Bulldogs didn't return to campus until early Sunday morning but found enough energy to pull out the dramatic win behind the strong play in doubles right away.

Jose Rodriguez battled BU's Bill Kring in a three-set thriller with Rodriguez able to pull out a huge 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.  Bryant's other two wins in singles play also came in three sets at Tom Nowak came back strong after dropping the first set to defeat James Bernstein 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.  Nicholai Hill followed with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win at No. 6.

The Bulldogs opened the match winning the all-important doubles point as Nowak and partner Kevin Gardiner out-lasted Kring and Tim Sichler 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.  Zehn Laliwala and Rodriguez defeated Miron Nissim and James Bernstein 8-4 at No. 3.

"The guys played a great match today against Boston University, showing a lot of heart and toughed out a great win on very little rest," said coach Ron Gendron. "They were ready to go this morning and took care of business today and I couldn't be more proud of them."
