Boxscore

ORLANDO, FLA.- The Bryant University men's tennis team cruised to a, 5-2, win over South Dakota State University Tuesday, making it three dual-match wins in a row for the Bulldogs as they improve to 2-0 on their spring break trip in Orlando.

Bryant (5-5) won five of the six single matches over the Coyotes, four of them coming in straight sets. Kevin Gardiner (Powder Springs, Ga.) was very impressive in third singles, winning his match without even losing a single game as he beat Evan Sims, 6-0, 6-0. Zehn Laliwala (Bagalore, India) accomplished the same feat, winning in sixth singles, 6-0, 2-0, as Cody Malik was forced to retire in the second set. Tom Nowak (Medfield, Mass.) and Nicholai Hill (Ottawa, Ontario) won their fourth and fifth singles matches respectively as well, with Nowak beating Justin Pyle, 6-4, 6-3, and Hill defeating Alex Lauseng, 6-2, 6-4.

Jose Rodriguez (Trujillo, Peru) had the most hard-fought victory, making a great comeback after falling, 6-7, in the first set. Rodriguez bounced back to dominate the second set, 6-1, and then winning a close third set tiebreak, 10-8.

South Dakota State won two of the three doubles matches to pick-up one point, but it was too little too late to come back against the Bulldogs, who clinched the victory in singles play.

Bryant will play one final match in Orlando, as they take on St. Joseph's (PA) on Wednesday.
