JUNIOR VIDITH HUOT NAMED NEC PLAYER OF THE MONTH
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University men's tennis player Vidith Huot (Providence, R.I.) was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Month for the month of September.
Huot began his 2012-13 campaign with an impressive showing at the Brown Invitational winning all three of his matches in straight sets en route to a flight championship. He knocked off BU's Alex Hallenback, 7-6, 6-2, in the quarterfinals, then ousted UConn's James Cohen, 6-3, 6-2, in the semis. Huot rolled over finals opponent Brandon Phan of BU, taking home the title with a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
The junior continued his stellar play over the weekend at the UConn Invitational, advancing to his individual flight finals in the singles and doubles divisions.
In singles action, Huot defeated Fairfield's R.J. Mirabile, 6-3, 6-2, and UConn's Andrew Ginzberg, 2-6, 6-4, 10-7, before falling in the finals to Sacred Heart's Jeremy Shuskus, 1-6, 7-6 (7-4), 7-10.
In doubles action, Huot and partner Ernesto Arguello (Managua, Nicaragua) defeated pairs from Hartford and Merrimack in the first two rounds, advancing to the finals where they fell to UConn's Jacob Spreyer and Ryan Carr.
Huot and the Bulldogs continue their fall schedule over the weekend when they head to Hamden, Conn., for the Quinnipiac Invitational.
