SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team fell to Boston College, 7-0, Saturday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Despite a strong effort from senior captain Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) at the no. 1 singles spot, the Bulldogs were unable to muster a point against a very talented BC squad. At the top position, Parziale and BC's Philip Nelson split the first two sets, 6-5, 1-6, sending the showdown into a tiebreaker where Nelson ultimately prevailed, 6-5.
In doubles play, Parziale and partner Ernesto Arguello (Managua, Nicaragua) picked up the lone victory on the day for Bryant, topping Kyle Childree and Matt Wagner, 6-3, in the no. 2 doubles spot.
The Black and Gold will have an opportunity to get back in the winner's circle Saturday in Verona, N.Y., when they take on Colgate (12 p.m.) and Niagara (4 p.m.).
