SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After picking up some big wins last weekend against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents, junior Zachary Morris (Garden City, N.Y.) of the Bryant University men's tennis team earned his first Northeast Conference Player of the Week honor of the year.
Morris shined against a pair of nationally ranked opponents last week to claim the third NEC Tennis Player of the Week award of his career. Morris fell at #3 singles in a 5-2 setback to #65 Buffalo last Friday, but teamed with senior Dana Parziale (Pinehurst, N.C.) for a 6-2 doubles win over Pablo Alvarez and Sebastian Ionescu.
The following day, he rallied back from a set down to knock off Christo Shultz, 4-6, 7-6, 1-0, in Bryant's 6-1 loss to #31 Harvard. Morris and Parziale also picked up an 8-4 victory over the Crimson tandem of Brian Yeung and Conor Haughey.
Bryant has now won six NEC monthly/weekly honors this season, and will look to kick things into full gear with the NEC Championships just over a month away.
