SYRACUSE, NY – Pinch runner Diana Getchell
(Cape Elizabeth, ME) scored off an error in the second
inning for the lone run in Bryant’s win over UMass Lowell in
a winner’s bracket game played today in Syracuse.
With the win Bryant will advance to the winner’s bracket
final to play No. 4 seed Saint Michael’s at 3:30PM.
Pitching was as the key to the game with Bryant’s
Janine Enos going seven innings allowing only four
hits and striking out two. Kristen Mahoney also went seven innings,
allowing one run, and striking out six.
The Bulldogs defense cemented their win making one key play
after key play. The first big play game came in the fifth when the
Riverhawks got the first runner on only have her get caught in a
rundown.
Later that inning Jordan Dargon threw out an
UMass Lowell runner to end the inning.
Bryant’s last key play came in the seventh when the
Riverhawks had runners on second and third when a hard liner came
back to Jess Valentini who tug out the lead runner
to prevent a run.
