LE MOYNE WINS NORTHEAST REGION WITH 5-4 VICTORY OVER CW POST

SMITHFIELD, RI - In a rematch of last year's regional final, No. 7 seed Le Moyne College advanced to the NCAA Division II National Tournament this coming weekend in Virginia with by defeating No.1 seed CW Post 5-4 Monday evening. Le Moyne's Sarah Reed (DeWitt, NY) threw a complete game striking out five while earning her third win of the tournament.

CW Post struck first in the home half of the first inning on an RBI double by Jill Fisher (Boyertown, PA). Fisher then added a solo homerun in the bottom of the third to give the Pioneers a 2-0 victory. However, the Dolphins would battle back and take a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth with an RBI double from Tournament MVP Emma Murphy (East Syracuse, NY). Lindsay Spaziani (Horseheads, NY) and Lyndsey Balinskas (Edison, NJ) each added an RBI in the inning.

Le Moyne would tack on two more runs in the top of the sixth with a RBI double from Caitlin O'Neil (Pittsford, NY) and a RBI single from Ashley Anderson (Liverpool, NY). CW Post scored a run in the bottom of the inning by a RBI double from Kelsey Walker (West Hills, CA). The Pioneers scored again in the bottom of the seventh on a RBI single from Katie Younes (Amesbury, MA) but would come up one run short as they fell 5-4.

GAME 10
ADELPHI DEFEATS UMASS LOWELL 5-1 ON MONDAY

SMITHFIELD, RI - Adelphi's Julie Schaper (Warwick, NY) knocked in two runs in the fourth inning with a double to lead the Panthers to the 5-1 victory over UMass Lowell in NCAA Tournament action at Bryant University.

Adelphi would add two more runs in the sixth on an RBI base on balls by Schaper and an RBI single by Allison Rice (Clinton, CT).

Behind the solid pitching performance of junior pitcher Carla Buonviaggio (Staten Island, NY), the Panthers secured the 5-1 victory. Buonviaggio fanned seven Riverhawks en route to her 11th win of the season and second of the tournament.

GAME 9
SOUTHERN N.H. DEFEATS QUEENS 9-0 IN SIX INNINGS

SMITHFIELD, RI -   No.8 Southern N.H. and No. 6 Queens finally took the field on Monday after their game on Saturday was rained out two days in a row. Freshman Ashley Bernstein (Stoughton, MA) connected on a three-run homerun in the first inning to give Southern N.H. an early lead. Southern N.H. won the game 9-0 in six innings.

Sara Swales (Lawrence, MA) drove in the Penmen's. fourth run in the first on an RBI double. Valerie Martins (Somerset, MA) added a two-run single in the fourth inning to give Southern N.H. a 7-0 lead. The Penmen tacked on two more runs on a two-run single by Tara Moriarty (Randolph, MA).

Ashley Smith (Franklin, NH) threw a six inning complete game two-hitter earning her 12th win of the season. Smith finished with four strikeouts including two in the bottom of the sixth.
