Enos (2-3) was touched up for five earned runs in six innings by the powerful Pioneer offense in game one. Samantha Yodowitz (14-4) shut out the Bulldogs on only four hits
Seniors Amanda Gagne (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Lauren McNiff (Westford, Mass.), junior Jessica Valentini (Cliffside Park, NJ), and freshman Alison Chouinard (Swansea, Mass.) all had homers for the Bulldogs in their 7-6 victory. Senior Nikki Ingalls (4-0) took the victory in a complete game.
Valentini got the scoring started in the first with a two run home run that drove in Kate Thomas (Bedford, NH). An inning later Gagne hit a three run shot and McNiff hit a solo bomb in the third.
Behind the home runs, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 6-0 lead, but the Pioneers broke through with a run in the fifth and then exploded for five runs in the sixth off Ingalls. The Bulldogs, however were able to close out the victory to conclude their weekend road trip 3-1.
Chouinard's home run was her third of the season. She currently leads the team with 3 HR and 9 RBI. Fellow freshman Ashley Coon (Fairless Hills, PA) was 3 for 6 on the afternoon.
The Bulldogs will return to action with a doubleheader Thursday versus Adelphi at the Bryant Softball Complex in Smithfield.
