Bulldogs Sweep Saturday Doubleheader from Franklin Pierce

SMITHFIELD, RI - Seniors Amanda Wilbur (Lakeville, Mass.) and Amanda Gagne (Wilbraham, Mass.) powered the Bulldogs to a two-game sweep over the Franklin Pierce Ravens Saturday afternoon at the Bulldog Softball Complex.
Wilbur was 4 of 4 with 5 RBI in the first game including a 3-run, walkoff home run in game one, won 8-0. Gagne's 3-run triple in the fifth inning of game 2 broke the game open for the home team in a 10-2 win.
Senior Nikki Ingalls (Westford, Mass.) pitched six shutout innings in game one to tally her fifth win of the season. She struck out five Ravens while only allowing 3 hits. The Bulldogs pushed across the game's first run when Wilbur drove home Jessica Valentini (Cliffside Park, NJ), who had doubled. The Bulldogs scored a pair of runs in the thrid on a Wilbur double and Kate Thomas (Bedford, NH) sacrifice fly. Thomas would go ahead to drive another in with a fifth-inning single.
The Bulldogs erupted for 4 runs to take an 8-0 lead and end the game in the sixth inning. The inning was started by an Ashley Coon (Fairless Hills, PA) home run down the left field line. Five batters later, Wilbur drove a Courtney Jacobs (4-6) pitch over the left-center field fence for a walkoff home run, her third of the season.
Anne Dobmeier (Buffalo, NY) captured her second victory of the season in game two. The Ravens jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the game before a 4-run bottom of the inning put the Bulldogs up for good. Back-to-back-to-back doubles by Thomas, Coon, and Alison Chouinard (Swansea, Mass.) scored four runs. Briana Durborow (Ringoes, NJ) knocked a single to lead off the second and later scored on a Gagne single.
The Bulldogs broke the game wide open in the fifth inning, capped off by a Lindsay Connor (West Haven, CT) RBI single and Gagne's bases-clearing triple. An inning later, Chouinard drove home Thomas for her second RBI of the game to end the game with the necessary 8-run lead and the win.
