SOFTBALL HEADS TO TAMPA TO START SEASON AT FLORIDA SOUTHERN INVITATIONAL
March 15, 2007 SCHEDULE
After being forced to cancel the team's scheduled opening tournament in Phoenix, Ariz. due to inclement weather, the Bulldog softball team will begin defense of their 2007 conference championship with a challenging week of play at the Florida Southern Invitational.
Coach Lisa-Ann Wallace's team will face some of the finest program's in the country during five games in three days.

Friday they will play a pair of games against #12 Florida Southern and the University of Tampa. The Mocassins of Florida Southern are 20-8 this season. They are led offensively by Leah English, hitting .426 this year with 10 doubles, 19 RBI and a home run and Jesse Shepheard, who is hitting .402 with 13 stolen bases. The Mocassins have also relied on the pitching arm of Megan Brown who is 11-4 with a 1.00 ERA in 105.1 innings pitched this year.
The Spartans of Tampa are led by Michelle Horan (.351, 9 RBI, 5 SB) and Samantha Becker (.258, 2 HR, 15 RBI). The Spartans are 12-10 this year.
Saturday the team will face Hillsdale and Florida Intstitute of Technology. This will be the first action of the season for the Hillsdale Chargers, who look to build on last year's 25-24 record with eight of nine starters returning.
Florida Tech already has forty games in the books and a 27-13 record. The Kristen Fettes, who has started every game while racking up a .438 batting average with 36 RBI. Judith Husband has carried the pitching load, compiling a 13-3 record and 0.91 ERA.
