Gagne's Hitting, Enos' and Ingalls' Pitching Lead Bulldogs to Impressive Split at Florida Southern Invitational
March 16, 2007 FLORIDA SOUTHERN BOX SCORE TAMPA BOX SCORE
Amanda Gagne's (Wilbraham, Mass.) third inning home run was all the offense senior pitcher Nikki Ingalls (Westford, Mass.) and the Bulldogs would need to knock off the University of Tampa 2-0 Friday evening in Lakeland, Florida.
Ingalls (1-0) went the distance for a complete game shutout, allowing only one hit for her first win of the season.
Gagne's home run came after freshman Alison Chouinard (Swansea, Mass.) worked a two-out walk off Spartans' starter Heather VanLandingham.

VanLandingham (6-5) took the hard-luck loss. Gagne's home run was the only hit that VanLandingham surrendered in the game.
The win snapped a 10-game Spartan winning streak.
Earlier in the day, Bryant pushed #18 Florida Southern to the limit Friday before a late Moccasin rally propelled the team to victory in their own invitational tournament.
Junior Janine Enos (Wareham, Mass.) (0-1) shut down the Moccasins for the first five innings before surrendering a pair of runs in the sixth.
In that inning, Sarah Kohlbrenner led off with a double to left center. She scored on a fielder's choice that allowed Jackie Leppla to get on base. Leppla was driven in two batters later on a single by Angela Williams.
Enos and Moccasin starter Heidi Schumacher matched eachother zero for zero for the first five innings. Schumacher (10-4) finished the game with 11strikeouts in a complete game shutout. She was dominant all game but seemed to gain strength as the game wore on, striking out 5 of the last nine batters she faced.
The only hits the Bryant offense could muster off Schumacher were singles by Gagne and freshman Ashley Coon (Fairless Hills, PA.)
The win was the 1,000 in the career of Florida Southern coach Chris Bellotto who is in her 26th year at the school.
The Bulldogs will conclude their trip to Florida with a pair of
games Saturday against Hillsdale and Florida Tech.
