Softball Picked Second in Preseason NE-10 Poll; Baseball Picked Sixth in Conference

Smithfield, RI- The 2006 Northeast-10 regular season and tournament champion Bryant Bulldogs were tabbed as preseason #2 by the conference's coaches. The Bulldogs received 4 of the 15 first place votes, and finished just behind Le Moyne.
The Dolphins reached last year's College World Series after being defeated by Bryant in the NE-10 Tournament. UMass-Lowell, who Bryant defeated for the NE-10 tournament championship, finished third place in the poll.
Last year the Bulldogs finished 29-18 and won the NE-10 Tournament for a second straight year. Coach Lisa-Ann Wallace returns eight starters and thetop two pitchers from that squad.
Softball will open their season in Arizona at the Schutt Division-II on Thursday, February 15.
Under the guidance of second-year head coach Jamie Pinzino, The Bryant baseball team was picked sixth in the 2007 preseason poll.
The Bulldogs finished with a 16-14 conference record in 2006 and another playoff berth after starting the season 2-15. This season's team will be led by captains Mike Rocco (Tewksbury, Mass.), Jason Alexander (Simsbury, CT) and Pat McKenna (Orange, CT).
UMass-Lowell, last season's conference champion, was picked to finish first, while Franklin Pierce was selected second. Southern Connecticut State, Pace, and Stonehill round out the top-five.
Bryant starts its season February 17 at Rollins College while its home opener is March 22 against Assumption at 3 p.m.
