Softball To Conclude Conference Schedule Today Looking for Best NE-10 Record in School History
April 30, 2008
Smithfield, RI - After two straight days of rain washed out the makeup date for the conclusion of last week's tie with St. Anselm and the Bulldogs' final conference doubleheader with Bentley, the Bulldogs will travel to Waltham, Mass. looking for the program's best conference record in history.
The Bulldogs will conclude their April 22 game with Saint Anselm, which was called due to darkness with the score tied at seven. The game will pick up in the top of the seventh with Saint Anselm batting, no outs, and a runner at second.
After the conclusion of that game, the Bulldogs will play two with conference rival Bentley. The Bulldogs are already locked in to the number two position in the Northeast-10 tournament and will play the #7 seeded team Saturday morning at 9am in Syracuse, NY.
The games have great importance to Bryant's opponents. The Hawks of Saint Anselm sit a half game up on St. Rose for the final spot in the NE-10 tournament, and Bentley needs another win to secure a playoff position. If the Bulldogs sweep the Falcons, regular season conference champion Le Moyne will have to bus down to Waltham to play Bentley twice tomorrow.
If the Bulldogs pick up all three wins today, they will finish
the NE-10 regular season 24-4, which would be the best finish in
school history. The Bulldogs went 23-5 in 2006 on their way to a
regular season conference championship and a NE-10 Tournament
crown.
