Bulldogs Continue Spring Break Trip at Florida Southern Thursday Night
March 12, 2008
Tampa, Fla.- After enjoying an off day with their families Wednesday, the Bryant Bulldogs will look to rebound from a pair of tough losses at #20 Tampa Tuesday night. The Bulldogs will play a doubleheader with Florida Southern starting at 5pm.
The Moccasins are perennially one of the stronger teams in Division II softball. Florida Southern is coming off an impressive 51-15 season in 2007 in which they won the Sunshine State Conference title and advanced through the difficult South Region to the College World Series. They finished the season as the third runner up.
This year the Mocs are 14-3 with two of them coming to the Spartans of Tampa University. The team is led by pitcher Brittany Minton. The junior righty is 8-1 in 63.0 innings this year with a 0.22 ERA. Heidi Shumacher provides a strong #2 pitcher with a 1. 27 ERA and 6-1 record. The Mocs have a combined team ERA of just 0.58.
But the Moccasins can also swing the bats. With a team average of .303, FSC is led by Natalie Lange (.396, 10 RBI), Angela William (.341, 2 HR, 11 RBI) and Sara Lovestrand (.386, 3 HR, 8 RBI).
