First and Third Place Teams in NE-10 do Battle in Smithfield; Follow the Action with Live Stats

Smithfield, RI - Fresh off a tense doubleheader sweep of Merrimack, Bryant continues its most difficult stretch of the season today against UMass-Lowell (3pm, Bryant Softball Complex). The Bulldogs (17-7 overall, 14-0 NE-10) look to solidify their spot atop the conference with two games against the Riverhawks (18-12 overall, 11-3 NE-10).

Bulldogs Move Up Regional Rankings

The Bulldogs have moved up two spots to #7 in the Northeast Region in this week's NCAA Division II Regional rankings. The Bulldogs' in-region record is 13-3. The Bulldogs' opponent today, UMass-Lowell is ranked #5. The Bulldogs are currently 3-3 against teams in the top ten regionally.

Game Notes:

Janine Enos (Wareham, Mass.) continues her tremendous pitching for the Bulldogs. The senior is 10-3 with a 1.39 ERA. She won a game and saved another Monday at Merrimack... Freshman Alex Pearson (North Digton, Mass.) has emerged as a star off the bench for Coach Lisa-Ann Wallace. Pearson is 3 for 7 in conference games as a pinch-hitter, including two doubles and 5 RBI...Junior Kate Thomas' (Bedford, NH) five triples on the season are one shy of a school record... This weekend, the Bulldogs head to New York for a Saturday doubleheader with St. Rose and a Sunday twin bill with conference power Le Moyne.

The Riverhawks were picked sixth in the NE-10 preseason poll after winning the NE-10 postseason tournament last year in Syracuse, NY... The 'Hawks beat the Bulldogs 8-4 in the opening round of that NE-10 tournament, but fell to the Bulldogs twice in the regular season and again in the NCAA Tournament.... The Riverhawks are led by senior Laurie Tanguay, a All-Conference second teamer last season. Tanguay was named NE-10 Player of the week Monday after a week in which she hit .batted .630 and led the team to a 6-2 clip.
