Softball adds six to Class of 2022

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The Bryant University softball team and head coach Shayne Lotito signed six players to national letters of intent, the team announced on Tuesday. The class is a versatile one, composed of several players who have played multiple positions in high school at the club level.

"We are very excited about this group," Lotito said. "They are extremely talented and hard-working young women. We believe that they not only will add to this program's success on the field as consistent conference contenders, but their character is one that will continue to uphold the standards of Bryant University softball. We are proud to welcome them to the family and are expecting big things from them on the field and in the classroom."

Lily Aasland – Catcher | San Clemente, Calif. | San Clemente | 5-8

A three-year varsity athlete at San Clemente High School heading into her senior season … Placed third at the Premier Girls Fastpitch last year.

Jocelyn Bodington – LHP | Cumberland, R.I. | Cumberland | 5-6

A three-year varsity athlete at Cumberland High School … Led her team to three-straight playoff appearances heading into her senior season, including a semifinal appearance in 2016 … Named First Team All-Division I, Second Team All-State and played in the Division I All-Star game as a junior … Named a Softball Division I Honorable Mention as a sophomore.

Toni Camarillo – INF/OF | Corona, Calif. | Norco | 5-3

A three-year starter at Norco High School in Norco, Calif. … Was a part of a 33-1 team that was ranked first nationally for most of 2017 … Was First Team All-League as a junior … Also named to the Michelle Carew All-Tournament Team … Was Second Team All-League as a sophomore and won a league championship … Won a state championship as a freshman.

Carlyn Hernandez – Utility | Cypress, Calif. | Cypress | 5-3

A three-year varsity athlete at Cypress High School … Was named All-League in 2017 … Also received Offensive Player of the Year honors, as well as Rookie of the Year honors.

Jane Owens – INF | Scituate, R.I. | Scituate | 5-11

A three-year varsity athlete at Scituate High School … Led her team to a Division and State Championship as a junior … The daughter of Bryant head baseball coach Steve Owens.

Allison Tomaino – INF/OF | Monmouth Beach, N.J. | Red Bank Catholic | 5-0

A three-year starter at Red Bank Catholic in Red Bank, N.J. … Batted .439 over her high school career … Was named Defensive Player of the Year as a junior playing second base while batting .471 … As a freshman, was named Northeast National MVP and won the batting title while hitting .451 as the team's centerfielder.
