Indoor Track Competes at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bryant University men's and women's indoor track teams traveled to Harvard University on Saturday for the annual Harvard Invitational at Gordon Track. The women were led by Amber Torrey's sixth-place finish in the women's weight throw with a mark of 12.54 meters while teammate Heather Clay was 20th with a throw of 8.97 meters.
Holly Resendes of Warwick, RI placed 14th in the mile in a time of 5 minutes, 38.34 seconds while Kara Tranquillo took 15th in 3000 meters in 12:12.86.
On the men's side, Hafiz Greigre of Attleboro, Mass. broke the Bryant indoor record in the 200 meters. The sophomore sprinter placed fourth in the event in a time of 22.38 seconds.
Daniel Kwarteng placed fifth in the finals of the men's 60 meters in a time of 7.10 seconds while Dallas Lynch took first place overall in the men's triple jump with a mark of 13.54 meters. Erik Farnsworth was ninth in the shot put (13.16m) while Mike Nessralla was 13th in the shot put (12.51m).
Junior Caleb Paul ran a strong race in the men's 3,000 meters, placing fourth overall in 8:53.95. Teammate Steve Barone was next in 12th in the 3,000 in a time of 9:22.76.
There was no team scoring at the meet. Bryant will have a month off before returning to action Jan. 29 at Wesleyan University.
