NESSRALLA AND BULLDOGS COMPETE AT NORTHEASTERN

DEDHAM, Mass. - Behind the strong performance from junior Michael Nessralla, the Bryant outdoor track & field teams turned in several strong performances at last weekend's Husky Solomon Invitational hosted by Northeastern University. 

Nessaralla placed fifth in the men's discus throw with a mark of 143 feet, eight inches and later placed 13th overall in the men's hammer throw at 126 feet, 2 inches.  Teammate Dallas Lynch turned in a pair of solid performances in the long and triple jumps.  Lynch took fifth in the long jump at 21 feet, 0.5 inches and followed with a leap of 42-2 in the triple jump to finish second overall. 

In the track events, Hafiz Greigre set a new school record in the men's 200 meters, finishing in a time of 21.88 to pass his old outdoor mark of 21.98.  Greigre, a sophomore from Attleboro, also holds the school indoor record in the 200 meters.  For his efforts Saturday, Greigre was named the Northeast-10 Track Athlete of the Week.

Joe Brennan took eighth in the 200 meters in 23.41 and earlier took third in the men's 100 meters in 11.68 seconds.  Also running well on the afternoon were Jared Nelson who was sixth in the 10,000 meters in 34:27.68 and Dan Giacalone in the steeple chase.

On the women's side, Nicole Radzik placed seventh in the women's 5,000 meters in 19:14.42 to earn women's freshman athlete of the week honors by the Northeast-10.  Michelle Morris, a senior sprinter from Windsor, Conn., took fourth in the women's 100 meters in 13.16 seconds and followed with a third-place finish in the 200 meters in a time of 27.45 seconds.

Holly Resendes and Kara Tranquillo both ran well in the 5,000 meters, finishing eighth and ninth respectively. 

In the field events, freshman Amber Torrey of Plainfield, N.H. was third overall in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 145 feet, 10 inches.  Torrey also placed tied for eighth in the discus (104-11) and sixth in the shot put at 34-2.25. 

The Bulldogs will compete Sunday at the Brown Springtime Invitational.
