BOSTON, Mass. - Bryant sophomore Hafiz Greigre continues to raise the bar for the Bulldog indoor track & field teams. Ranked 19th nationally in the men's 200 meters, Greigre set a new school record with a time of 21.83 seconds to finish fourth in a qualifying round Friday at the New England Championships at Boston University. In Saturday's finals, Greigre placed fourth in the finals of the 200 meters in 21.89 seconds.
Greigre, a native of Attleboro, Mass., also ran well in the men's 55 meters, reaching the finals by placing ninth in the semifinals in 6.56 seconds on Saturday, and finally placing eighth in the finals in a time of 6.58 seconds.
Teammate Daniel Kwarteng (Worcester, Mass.) also ran well in the sprits in the two-day event. Kwarteng qualified for the semifinals Friday with a time of 6.60 seconds and followed that performance with a time of 6.60 seconds Saturday morning, just missing the cutoff for the finals at 6.56.
Also on Saturday, Jessica Cegarra (Danville, N.H.) placed 15th with a throw of 36 feet, 8.5 inches.
Matt Cutler (Yarmouthport, Mass.) and Nick Balistrieri (Glastonbury, Conn.) competed Friday in the men's heptathlon with Cutler finishing eighth with 2,102 total points. Balistrieri, a junior, took 10th with 1,947 points.
On the women's side, senior Holly Resendes (Warwick, R.I.) placed 18th overall in the women's 5,000 meters Friday night. Resendes finished in a season-best time of 18:39.45.
Also competing on Friday was freshman Amber Torrey (Plainfield, Mass.) in the women's weight throw. Torrey placed 13th with a throw of 46 feet, four inches.
