Stevenson Shatters Pair of Records; Nessralla Captures First in the Discus As Track & Field Opens Season at Rhode Island College
TRACK OPENS SEASON WITH RECORD-BREAKING PERFORMANCE AT RIC

PROVIDENCE, RI -- Picking up right where she left
off after a record-breaking indoor season, Bryant junior sprinter
Natasha Stevenson opened the spring season with a
bang as two more records fell Saturday at the Rhode Island College
Invitational. Stevenson, a native of Haverhill,
Mass., blew away Meagan Long's 2000 mark of 12.92 seconds in the
100 meters with a first-place finish in 12.54.
In the 200 meters, Stevenson (LEFT) captured first-place once
again with yet another record time in passing Michelle Morris' 2002
mark of 26.64 by crossing the line in 26.24. Amanda
Early looked sharp for the Bulldogs in the sprints as well
as she captured third in both the 100 and 200 meters in 13.34 and
27.54 respectively.
Justine Douvadjian took home first place honors in the 400 meters in 61.74 seconds while Nicole Radzik took second in the 3,000 meters in 11 minutes, 11.60 seconds.
In the field events, Amber Torrey earned a first place finish in the women's shot put with a mark of 34 feet, 7 inches, just edging teammate Rachel Martinich who was second with a mark of 32-10.25.
On the men's side, sprinters Hafiz Greigre and Joe Brennan stole the show as Greigre cruised to a first place finish in both the 100m (10.94 seconds) and 200m (21.94). Brennan, a native of East Providence, took top honors in the 400 meters in a smooth 51.14 seconds. Jeff Hedberg was third in 52.54.
In the field events, Mike Nessralla looked in midseason form with a first place finish in the men's discus throw at 144 feet, 6 inches and later added a second-place finish in the shot put at 42-11.75 and fifth-place finish in the hammer (137-2).
Rob Schneider took first place in the men's pole vault by clearing a day's best 12 feet, 11 inches.
The Bulldogs will host the annual Bryant Invitational on Saturday starting at 10 am.
