Indoor Track Teams Place Fourth at Northeast-10 Conference Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. The Bryant men's and women's indoor track
teams finished fourth at Saturday's Northeast-10 Conference Indoor
Championship Saturday at Southern Connecticut. Bryant will
look to send several athletes to the upcoming New England Indoor
Championships Feb. 24-25 at Boston University.
Sophomore sprinter Hafiz Greigre (right) captured
first place in both the 55 and 200 meters to lead the way for the
Bulldogs. Greigre finished first in the 55 meters in a new
school record time of 6.44 seconds, edging Lowell's Lawrence Aidoo
who was second in 6.45 seconds and Southern's Tyrone Joseph, who
placed third in 6.46.
Greigre followed with a first place finish in the 200 meters, winning in 22.05 seconds, well ahead of Lowell's Clint Cooper (22.35) and Aidoo (22.42). Teammate Joe Brennan was seventh in the men's 400 meters in 52.05 while freshman Brian Ford took 10th in the mile in 4 minutes, 35.16 seconds. Steve Barone took home fourth in the men's 1,000 meters in 2:39.02 while senior Caleb Paul was third in the 5,000 meters in 15:36.88.
Greigre helped score points for the Bulldogs in the field events, placing second with a school-record jump of 22 feet, 1.75 inches. Dallas Lynch placed sixth in the triple jump while Mike Nessralla was fourth in the men's shot put at 42 feet, 1.25 inches.
On the women's side, Natasha Stevenson was second in the women's 200 meters in 25.78 seconds while Amanda Early was 11th in 27.48. Justine Douvadjian took sixth in the women's 400 meters in a personal best time of 1:02.08. Carey Fitzgerald added a strong seventh-place finish in the 500 meters in 1:33.49.
Nicole Radzik placed third overall in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 19:58.07 .
In the field events, Fitzgerald went over eight feet to take second in the women's pole vault. Jessica Cegarra placed third in the shot put with a mark of 39 feet, 4.75 inches and added a 7th place in the women's weight throw at 44-8. Amber Torrey was fourth in the women's weight throw at 44-8.
