Indoor Track & Field Teams Compete at New England Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Fresh off their fourth-place finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Championship last week, the Bryant men's and women's indoor track teams sent several qualifiers to the New England Championships this weekend at Boston University. 

Junior Natasha Stevenson turned in a pair of strong performances in the sprint events Friday afternoon, qualifying for the finals of the 200 meters.  Stevenson placed 19th in the 55m in a school-record time of 7.45 seconds and would later take 8th in the 200m in another school record time of 25.27 seconds. 

In Saturday's finals, Stevenson finished 9th in the women's 200 meters in a time of 25.37 seconds.

On the men's side, Hafiz Greigre kept up with Stevenson by qualifying in both the 55m and 200 meters.  Greigre, a sophomore from Attleboro, Mass., tied for 9th overall in the men's 55 meter dash in 6.55 seconds and later took 7th in the 200m in 21.87. 

On Saturday, Greigre turned it up a notch, earning all-England honors with a second place finish in the finals of the men's 55 meter dash in 6.38 seconds and took third in the 200 meter finals, earning all-New England honors with a time of 21.57 seconds – also a new school record.  His time of 6.38 seconds in the 55m is an NCAA Indoor Provisional mark.

Teammate Joe Brennan of East Providence, RI (La Salle) placed 24th in the men's 400 meters in a personal-best 50.27 seconds.

Congratulations to senior Caleb Paul (Addison, Maine) - pictured - placed 15th in the men's 5,000 meters in a school-record time of 15 minutes, 15.77 seconds. 

The men's distance medley relay squad placed 17th in 10:47.84. 

Saturday featured Brian Ford in the men's mile, Dallas Lynch in the men's triple jump, Jessica Cegarra in the shot put, and the men's and women's 4x400 meter relays.

Ford placed 25th overall in a personal best 4:24.77 while Lynch was 9th overall in the triple jump with a mark of 44 feet, 10.75 inches.  Cegarra was 12th in the shot put with a mark of 40 feet, 4 inches.   The men's 4x400 meter relay team took 12th in 3:21.24 while the women were 17th in 4:12.46.
