Men's Results / Women's Results
BOSTON, Mass. - The temperature outside may not have felt like winter, but the indoor track season kicked off Saturday at the Northeastern University Husky Winter Carnival at Reggie Lewis Center. The Bulldogs had several strong performances at the meet in the first of just two dates of competition in the month of December for the Bulldogs.
Competing on the same oval for the first time since last year's NCAA National Indoor Championships, senior Hafiz Greigre finished fourth overall in the men's 400 meter dash, the event that he qualified for last March. Greigre finished in a time of 49.68 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Greigre set a new school record with a second place in the men's 200 meters, crossing the line in 6.45 seconds in the prelims and followed with a time of 6.42 in the final, just behind overall winner Eddie Bynum of Salem State (6.40). Greigre had the previous record of 6.47 set last year.
Curt Markinac took second in the 200 meters in 23.54 while Alex Engle and Joe Brennan placed seventh and eighth respectively in the 400 meters with Engle at 51.04 and Brennan next in 51.13.
In the field events, Jonathan Richards placed 6th in the triple jump with a mark of 40 feet, 5.5 inches.
On the women's side, Amber Torrey captured Bryant's only first place finish on the afternoon, taking top honors in the women's weight throw at 49 feet, 7.75 inches. She also took ninth in the shot put with a best throw of 36-6.25.
Nicole Radzik set a new school record with a third-place finish in the women's 3,000 meters, finishing in a time of 10:35.37, breaking her old mark of 11:01.70 set in 2005.
Natasha Stevenson took third in the 200m in 25.85 seconds while Justine Douvadjian was fourth in the 400m in 61.57.
