January 27, 2007 RESULTS
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Idle for more than a month, the Bryant men's
and women's indoor track & field teams showed little rust
Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational as the Bulldogs turned in
several strong performances, including a few first place finishes
in the team's first meet since back Harvard back in
December.
Nicole Radzik took top honors in the women's 5000 meters in 18:35.92 while teammate Jen Goodwin finished in the top five in the race, earning a fifth-place finish in 19:42.25. Stephanie Montagno placed third in the women's 500 meters in 1:21.90.
The women's distance medley team of Casey Fenwick, Goodwin, Sandra Greene, and Radzik captured first place in the DMR in a time of 13:31.23. The 4x400 meter relay team of Douvadjian, Megan Evans, Fitzgerald, and Samantha Genatossio was runner up to Wheaton College by a second, finishing in a time of 4:10.06.
In the field events, Sarah Giffard took fifth in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 11 inches while Amber Torrey took home first in the weight throw (26-10.75) and third in the women's shot put (36-5).
On the men's side, Hafiz Greigre qualified for the finals of the 55 meters in 6.65 seconds and later took things up a notch by running a blistering 6.48 seconds to finish second in the finals, just behind first place finisher Durell Stallworth's who won the race in 6.46 seconds. Greigre would not be outdone in the 200 meters, however, finishing first overall by edging Stallworth in 21.93 seconds.
Other standout performances included Peter Jacques' second place finish in the 800 meters in 2:01.20 and Tom Casey's first place finish in the 3000 meters. Casey crossed the line in 9:04.57, just enough to edge Amherst's Peter Foote's 9:05.57.
