SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University men's and women's track
& field teams will host the 2008 Northeast-10 Conference Track
& Field Championships this Saturday at the Bryant Track
Complex.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. with the men's hammer kicking off the field events and the men's and women's (combined) running of the 10,000 meters to lead off the running events.
The championships are schedule to conclude around 4:30 p.m. following the completion of the women's and men's 4x800 meter relay with the awards ceremony scheduled to take place at that time.
The Owls of Southern Connecticut State are the defending men's champion, winning last year's meet with a point total of 218. The Stonehill Skyhawks were second with 140 points followed by U Mass Lowell in third with 122. The Bryant men were fourth with 55 points at the 2007 championships.
On the women's side, Southern Connecticut will look to defend its conference title from 2007. The Owls won last year's meet with 225.5 total team points followed by U Mass Lowell in second (166.5) and Stonehill in third with 77 points.
Following the NE-10 Championships, teams and individuals will compete at the New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 8-10 at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH.
The NCAA Division II Championships will take place May 22-24 Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California. Cal Poly Pomona will serve as the hosts of the NCAA Championships.
