WOMEN'S TRACK FINISHES SEVENTH AT URI MEGA MEET
KINGSTON, RI -- The Bryant University women's indoor track & field team took part in the University of Rhode Island Mega Meet Saturday afternoon at URI's Mackal Field House. The Bulldogs finished seventh out of seven teams competing with 12 points. Host URI won the meet with 249.5 points followed by UNH in second with 175 and third-place UMass at 131.5. Quinnipiac (48), Central Connecticut (19) and Rhode Island College (15) rounded out the scoring placing fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
The Bulldogs were led by Stephanie Montagano who garnered four points with a fifth-place finish in the 800 meters. Montagano finished in a time of 2:27.66. Teammate Jennifer Denise (2:33.62) and Megan McKenzie (2:36.48) were 14th and 15th.
Senior Nicole Radzik took 12th in the 1,000 meters in 3:11.23 while Stephanie Kirk earned a pair of points with a seventh-place finish in the finals of the 55 meter hurdles (9.31 seconds).
In the field events, Amber Torrey earned two scoring placings, finishing seventh in the shot put with a mark of 36 feet, 7.75 inches earning two points and later added a seventh-place finish in the weight throw (46-11.5) earning two more points. Rachel Martinich took 10th in the shot put (34-4) with Rebecca Lange (30-9) taking 15th.
The Bulldogs travel to the Boston University Valentine
Invitational next weekend.
