BRYANT TRACK TEAMS COMPETE AT NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS
BOSTON - The Bryant University men's and women's indoor track teams concluded the 2008 New England Championships at Boston University with a pair of 23rd-place finishes. The women placed 23rd out of 30 teams scored with the men earning a 23rd-place finish out of 31 scored.
Senior Nicole Radzik brought home a fourth-place finish in the women's 5,000 meters finishing in 17 minutes, 31.10 seconds Friday night. Amherst's Heather Wilson won the event in 17:11.88.
Junior Stephanie Montagano placed 18th in the 400 meters Friday in 59.09 while Abigail Peterson placed 18th in the pole vault, clearing 9 feet, 10 inches. Senior Amber Torrey placed 13th in the women's weight throw competition Friday night with a throw of 48-04.75.
On the men's side, Thomas O'Connor ran well in the sprints, finishing 30th in the 55 meter dash in 6.83 seconds and later taking 18th in the 200 meters in 22.52. Alex Engel earned a top-10 finish in the 400 meters, placing fifth in 48.78 seconds, qualifying for Saturday's 400m finals. In the finals, Engel placed fifth in a personal-best time of 48.64 seconds.
Mike DiBella was 16th in the 500m in 1:06.37 while teammate Andrew Fitzgerald was 24th in the 500m (1:07.62) while Justin Getts took 24th overall in the 800 meters. Getts was followed by teammates Corey Chapman (27th) and Jason Thresher (28th).
The men's 4x400 relay team took home fifth-place Saturday with a time of 3:20.18.
