INDOOR TRACK & FIELD HEADS OFF TO NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

After a brilliant performance at the NEC Championship at Landover, MD this past weekend Bryant University's Indoor Track & Field team will be sending four outstanding athletes to the New England Championship at Boston University this weekend.
Thomas O'Connor (Westwood, MA), Michael DiBella (Upper Saddle River, NJ), Andrew Fitzgerald (New Hartford, CT), and Alexander Engel (Spencer, MA) will be competing against the top runners from all over New England in four different events: the 200 meters, 400 meters, 500 meters, as well as the 4 x 400 meter relay.
Coming off a great performance at the Northeast Conference Championships where the Bulldogs placed sixth on the men's side and 11th in the women's competition, the Bulldogs will be looking to make their mark among the best in Division I.
Placing 2nd in the 400m and 8th in the 200m at the NEC meet, Thomas O'Connor, qualified for the New England Championship in three events, all at the BU Valentine's Day Invite.
The sophomore earned a trip to Beantown in the 200m with a time of 22.27 seconds and the 400m (49.26). He will also be a member of the 4 x 400m relay team.
After placing 5th in last weekend's NEC Championship meet in the 500 meter run, sophomore Michael DiBella will be competing at the New England's this weekend in the same event thanks to a qualifying time of 1:06.27 at the Valentine's Day meet. He will also run in the 4 x 400m relay.
Following a strong meet at Landover, MD where he placed
4th in the 400m and 9th in the 200m against
the best in the NEC, Alexander Engel has qualified
for an incredible four events at BU this weekend.
The lone qualifying junior will be competing against his teammates
in the 200m (22.31), 400m (49.16), and the 500m (1:05.19) as well
as participating with them in the 4 x 400m relay.
During last weekend's NEC Championship, the sophomore Andrew Fitzgerald placed 7th in the triple jump and was a member of the 4th place 4 x 400m relay team (along with O'Connor, DiBella, and Engel).
Fitzgerald will be joining his three other teammates in the men's 4x 400m relay with a qualifying time of 3:21.51.
Following the New England's, the Bulldogs will compete at the ECAC / IC4A Championships March 7-8 at Reggie Lewis in Boston.
