BRYANT PLACES 65 STUDENT-ATHLETES ON NEC ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL
SOMERSET, NJ – A total of 65 Bryant University student-athletes have been named to the Northeast Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, including nine earning Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction. In addition, men’s tennis junior Cristian Balestrieri (Mar Del Plata, Argentina) and women’s tennis senior Chelsea Downing (Cherry Hills Village, Colo.) were recognized as NEC Spring Scholar-Athletes for 2010.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Championship season begins this weekend when the Bryant University men’s and women’s track & field teams head to Emmitsburg, Md. for the 2010 NEC Track & Field Championships this Saturday and Sunday. This will be the first time the Bulldogs will compete in the outdoor NEC championships. The teams competed at the indoor championships the past two seasons with the men and women both placing ninth at the indoor meet in February.

INDOOR TRACK OPENS STRONG AT NEW ENGLANDS; ENGEL BREAKS SCHOOL RECORD IN 400 METER
BOSTON - The Bryant University indoor track & field teams kicked off the 2010 New England Championships in fine fashion Friday evening at Boston University. Alex Engel (Spencer, Mass.) turned in the best performance of the opening day with a second-place finish in the prelims of the 400 meters and followed it up on Saturday with a second-place finish in the final of the event turning in a time of 48.09, breaking the school record of 48.23. The men finished with 13 points overall and in 20th place.
