BOSTON - The Bryant men's and women's indoor track & field season ended on a high note this past weekend at the IC4A and ECAC Championships in Boston. On Saturday, the men's 4x400 meter relay team closed out the indoor season in style with another standout performance.
Competing Saturday at the IC4A Championships, the team of Michael DiBella (Upper Saddle River, N.J.), Joe Pugliano (West Springfield, Mass.), Thomas O'Connor (Westwood, Mass.) and Alex Engel (Spencer, Mass.) showed why they are perhaps the best relay team in school history by shattering the school record with an amazing time of 3:16.67, nearly two seconds better than their previous record of 3:18.35 set earlier this season.
Individually, O'Connor ran a season-best 22.10 seconds in the prelims of the men's 200 meters to finish 26th while Engel placed 29th in the prelims of the men's 400 meters in 48.98.
On Sunday, freshman Deirdre Doyle (Carlow, Ireland) placed 24th in the women's 3,000 meters at the ECAC Championships, finishing in a time of 10:19.66. Providence's Shelby Greene was the overall winner in 9:30.83.
Bryant's outdoor track & field season kicks of on Tuesday, March 30 with the Bryant Quad Meet at the Bryant Track Complex in Smithfield, R.I.
