Fournier Leads Bulldogs Past Dominican Monday Night

SMITHFIELD, R.I -- Bryant senior Kellie Fournier (Westport, Mass.) led four players in double figures with a team-high 18 points to help lead the Bulldogs past visiting Dominican, 96-73 here Monday night. Fournier finished the night 7-of-15 from the floor shooting and grabbed nine rebounds.

Guard Joanna Skiba (Providence / Classical) and senior Dede Fogarty (Middletown, Conn.) each scored 17 for the Bulldogs. Skiba made 5-of-7 from the floor - including a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range. The sophomore also had five assists and seven steals and finished with just one turnover in 27 minutes.

Bryant (6-2) never trailed in the game. Leading at the half, 43-30, the Bulldogs quickly pushed the lead to, 59-42 following a three by Skiba and a fall-away jumper from Abby Lesneski (Portland, Maine) with 13:41 remaining in the game.

Dominican (3-5) would make a run to close to within 75-63 following a layup inside by Ashley Rossi (Greenwood Lake, N.Y.) and a three-pointer from the right side by freshman guard Dana Rotio (Garfield, N.J.). Rossi led all scorers with 19 points while Rotio added 18 for the Chargers. But that would be as close as the Chargers would get as a Fogarty layup with just over five minutes remaining kept the Bulldogs safely in front, 84-65.

Dominican shot 50.9 percent from the floor and out-rebounded the Bulldogs 38 to 37, but the visitors turned the ball over a costly 32 times in the game, resulting in 27 points for the Bulldogs.

Lindsay Hermann (Bristol, Conn.) had 12 points and seven rebounds while Lesneski finished with 9 points and four rebounds in 19 minutes as the Bulldog bench outscored Dominican's reserves 26-13 in the game.

Bryant will be off for the holiday's and return to action Dec. 29-30 hosting the Comfort Suites Holiday Classic in Smithfield, RI. Teams competing include NJIT, AIC, and Lock Haven.
