Bryant Rolls in Day 2 of Holiday Classic, Beating Lock Haven 74-59

SMITHFIELD, RI ? The Bryant University women?s basketball rolled past Lock Haven University in Day 2 of the Bryant Comfort Suites Holiday Classic played today at the Chace Athletic Center.

Bryant (8-2, 4-2 NE-10) used to two first half runs to take control early. The first came midway thru the first half when the Bulldogs went on an 8-0 run to see them lead 18-9. The run was highlighted by two Dede Fogarty (Middletown, Conn.) lay-ups and inside baskets from Lindsay Hermann (Bristol, Conn.) and Kellie Fournier (Westport, Mass.). Bryant?s second run came to end the half when they used a 12-2 run to close the half up 37-25. This run saw a three-pointer and jumper from Erin Murphy (Albany, NY) and jumper and a pair of free throws from Lauren Rubenoff (New Hartford, Conn).

The second half was much like the first with Bryant using two runs to cement the win. Opening the half on a 10-2 spurt - including two Fogarty jumpers and a lay-up from Joanna Skiba (Providence).

Bryant was led by Fogarty?s 18 points and Hermann?s 11. Skiba chipped in with nine points and 10 assists and Fournier added eight. Lock Haven was led by Melissa Picarsic?s 14 and Allison Hall?s 13.

Bryant will return to action Monday, January 3 when they travel to Northeast-10 Conference foe Assumption. Tip-off is set for 5:30PM in Worcester.
