Hermann?s 18 Leads Bryant to Win

SMITHFIELD, RI ? Lindsay Hermann?s (Bristol, Conn.) 18 points and seven rebounds led Bryant to 66-61 victory over Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern Connecticut in a game played today in the Chace Athletic Center.
The first half saw Bryant (4-1, 3-1 Northeast-10) fall behind by as much 12 with Southern Connecticut starting the game on a 15-3 run. Bryant would cut the lead to 18-14 when Joanna Skiba (Providence, RI) made a lay-up with 7 minutes remaining. Southern Connecticut (3-2, 2-2 Northeast-10) would then expand its lead to 11 when Rochelle Johnson hit a jumper with 1:47 remaining. Dede Fogarty?s (Middletown, Conn.) jumper with 20 seconds left in the half made the halftime score 30-23 Southern Connecticut.
Bryant would claw back in the second half finally gaining the led at the 7:53 mark when Emily Sauck (Scottsdale, AZ) hit two free throws made it 48-47. From that point both teams battled back-and-fourth with the Bulldogs taking the lead for good on a lay-up and subsequent foul shot by Hermann. Hermann sealed the game with 50 seconds remaining when she hit two free throws preserving Bryant?s 66-61 win.
Skiba had 12 points and Fogarty chipped in with 10 points. Kellie Fournier (Westport, Mass.) had eight points and 13 rebounds. For the Owls Kim Jackle had 18 points and Kristi Stolle and Bridgette Metzger had 10.
Bryant will return to action Tuesday, December 7 when they travel to the University of New Haven. Game time is set for 7:00 PM in West Haven.
