Bryant Seniors Combine for 53 Points in Senior Day Victory

SMITHFIELD, RI ? The Bryant University women?s basketball seniors combined for 53 points in the Bulldogs 72-57 victory over Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Anselm today in a game played in the Chace Athletic Center.

Bryant (16-8, 11-8 NE-10), starting its five seniors, opened the game on an 18-4 run which included a 9-0 start by the Bulldogs. Kellie Fournier (Westport, Mass.) started the game with a lay-up that was followed by a three-pointer by Lynne Zoltowski (Colts Neck, NJ) for a 5-0 start. A Dede Fogarty (Middletown, Conn.) jumper made it 9-0 and forcing Saint Anselm to call a quick timeout.


Jessie Weber (Norwell, Mass.) hit a three-pointer in during its 18-4 start and Lindsay Hermann (Bristol, Conn.) scored a lay-up ensuring all five seniors would score in their final regular season home game.

The Bulldogs would close the half with six straight points to take a 38-19 halftime lead when Fogarty hit a three-pointer and Joanna Skiba (Providence, RI) hit a runner.

The second half saw Bryant expand it?s lead by as much as 27 before Saint Anselm (7-17, 6-13 NE-10) who use a 8-0 run with six minutes to go to cut it to 13. the Bulldogs would regroup and win the game by 15.

Bryant was lead by Fogarty?s 20 points. Weber chipped in with a career-high 13 while Fournier and Hermann finished with nine and eight respectively. Zoltowski closed the senior scoring with three. Saint Anselm was lead by Raenielle Decastro-Cain?s 16 and Jessica Morgan?s 14.

Bryant will return to action Wednesday when they travel to Saint Michael?s for a Northeast-10 Conference match-up with the Purple Knights. Tip-off in Colchester, Vt. is set for 5:30 pm.
