No. 7 Bentley Takes Over In Second Half To Cruise Past Bulldogs

SMITHFIELD, RI ? Trailing 30-23 at the half, seventh-ranked Bentley College used a 15-3 run to start the second half enroute to a 69-58 win in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up played today in the Chace Athletic Center.

Bentley would start the game on a 5-0 run with Bryant responding to tie the score at 7-7 six minutes on a Kellie Fournier (Westport, Mass.) jumper. From there both teams would trade baskets until the Falcons used a Shevon Gibbons tip-in to make it 17-14 Bentley. The Bulldogs would then use a 16-6 run to close the half and take a 30-23 lead into the locker room. The run was highlighted by two lay-ups each by Lauren Rubenoff (New Hartford, Conn) and Jessie Weber (Norwell, Mass. )

The Falcons started the second half on a 15-3 run, opening up a 42-33 lead with 13 minutes remaining. The run was highlighted by two lay-ups each for Gibbons and Shannon Kirwan. After the run, Bryant used a Lindsay Hermann (Bristol, Conn.) lay-up and free throw close to within, 42-36.

Kate Kelly led the way for Bentley , equaling a career-high with 21 points and Gibbons added 18 points and 11 rebounds. Hermann led the way for Bryant with 13 points and six rebounds, while Fournier added 10.

Bryant will return to action next Saturday, January 8, when they travel to Stonehill College in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up. Tip-off is set for 1:30PM in Easton.
