Women's Basketball Holds On For Win Over Pace 66-61

SMITHFIELD, RI ? The Bryant University women?s basketball held on down the stretch to defeat Pace University, 66-61 in a Northeast-10 Conference game played today in the Chace Athletic Center.

Bryant (13-5, 8-5 NE-10) and Pace (12-7, 9-5 NE-10) would start the game hot, combining for 17 points in the first three and half minutes. The Bulldogs would enjoy their first big lead at the 12 minute mark when Megan Peper (Castleton, NY) hit two free throws to make it 21-10.

Bryant would then enjoy its biggest lead of the half at 34-19 with five minutes left when Lynne-Anne Kokoski (Hatfield, Mass.) picked up a steal and converted the layup on the other end.

The Bulldogs would take a 39-30 into the locker room at the half thanks to 50.0 percent shooting from the field (15-for-30).

The second half saw Bryant take its biggest lead at 14 with 11 minutes to play when Kellie Fournier (Westport, Mass.) hit a pair of free throws. From there, the Setters would trim the lead to three with 35 seconds left, but the Bulldogs would hit some key free throws down the stretch to take home the win. Bryant went a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line in the second half (18-for-20 total).

Dede Fogarty (Middletown, Conn.) scored a game-high 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Lindsay Hermann (Bristol, Conn.) finished with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. She is now one point shy of 1,000 for her career. Fournier also chipped in with 14. Pace was led by Hannah Sheppard who had 15.

Bryant will return to action Thursday, January 27, when they travel to Southern Connecticut. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM at New Haven.
