Perry's 27 Points Not Enough As Bulldogs Come Up Short at Assumption, 60-57 Saturday
PERRY SCORES 27 BUT BULLDOGS FALL TO ASSUMPTION, 60-57
WORCESTER, Mass. - Shannon Perry (Providence, RI) led all scorers with a season-high 27 points and 12 rebounds but it was not enough as the Bryant women's basketball team dropped a 60-57 decision at Assumption on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs shot just 29.2 percent from the floor in the game and made just 2 of 20 three-pointers.
Bryant led 14-9 midway through the first half following a Perry
put-back from miss by Lynne-Ann Kokoski (Springfield, Mass.), but
the Greyhounds would out-score the Bulldogs 8-2 over the next seven
minutes to take its first lead of the game, 17-16 after a Megan
Urban fast break lay-up with 8:20 left.
Bryant shot just 26.5 percent from the floor in the first half and trailed 33-26 at the break. In the second half, the Bulldogs trailed the entire way but a Lauren Rubenoff (new Hartford, Conn.) basket with 25 seconds left pulled the Bulldogs to within 56-53 but that would be as close as Bryant would get as Joanna Skiba's (Providence, RI) three-pointer at the buzzer came up short.
Charde Floyd had 18 points and 11 rebounds to pace Assumption
(8-7, 4-6 NE-10) while Kerry Millhaven added 15 points including
four 3-point field goals as the Greyhounds finished the game
shooting 43.6 percent from the floor and won despite turning the
ball over 22 times in the game.
Bryant (7-8, 2-8 NE-10) got 12 points from Murphy, all in the second half as Lynne-Ann Kokoski finished with eight points as the sophomore made both of Bryant’s three-point field goals in the game, both coming in the first half. Perry was 9 of 16 from the floor and made 9 of 10 free throws. She finished with four steals in 31 minutes of action.
Bryant hosts AIC Monday evening at 5:30 pm.
