Smithfield, RI - The Bryant
University women’s basketball team welcomed Southern
Connecticut to the Chace Athletic Center on Thursday evening for a
Northeast-10 conference battle. The Bulldogs fell to the Owls
62-43. Southern Connecticut improves to 17-3 and 12-3 in the NE-10.
Bryant drops to 3-16 overall and 0-14 in conference play.
Shannon Perry (Providence, RI) made her return to
the Bulldogs lineup contributing six points and six rebounds to
break her streak of double-doubles. Junior Joanna
Skiba (Providence, RI) had a game high 19 points including
5-8 from three-point land. Senior Megan Peper
(Castelton, NY) was 3-3 from the floor scoring six points and
grabbed seven rebounds.
The game was back and forth for the first few minutes of the game
until Southern Connecticut went on an 18-2 run including three
straight three-pointers from senior Kristi
Stolle (Warren, CT). Stolle finished the game with
a team high 15 points all coming via the three-pointer. Three other
Owls scored in double figures. Kate Lynch
(Rumford, RI) had 13 points and went 7-8 from the free throw line.
Southern Connecticut shot 46% from beyond the arc in route to the
victory.
Bryant University will travel to Franklin Pierce on Saturday with a
tip time of 1:30pm.
