SMITHFIELD, RI - It was a historic night at the Chace Athletic Center Wednesday night as Bryant senior guard Joanna Skiba (Providence / Classical) became the 16th women's basketball player in school history to record her 1,000th point as the Bulldogs picked up a big Northeast-10 Conference win over Assumption College, 80-76.

Skiba scored on a drive to the basket just over a minute into the game, scoring and drawing a foul in the process.  She entered the game needing just one point to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

Fans including several waving signs for the local product gave her a standing ovation as she was presented with a ball to commemorate the achivement during a pause in the action.

Skiba would finish with a game-high 22 points in 40 minutes of action against the Greyhounds who were ranked No.6 in a preseason poll.

The win gives the Bulldogs a 4-1 overall record (2-1 in the NE-10) heading into a tough four-game stretch that starts this Saturday at UMass Lowell (2 pm). The Bulldogs will travel to Bentley on Tuesday, host Southern New Hampshire next Saturday (Dec. 9) and visit Stonehill College on Dec. 13.
