No. 7 BRYANT FALLS TO No. 2 STONEHILL, 67-58, IN NCAA REGIONAL FIRST ROUND FRIDAY AFTERNOON
PHILADELPHIA - The No. 7 Bryant University women's basketball team couldn't hold on to a nine-point halftime lead in Friday afternoon's NCAA Northeast Regional First Round action, falling to Northeast-10 Conference rival No. 2 Stonehill College, 67-58 at Holy Family University.
The Bulldogs set the pace for the contest's first half early and with a fluency they've had throughout the 2007-08 postseason. Bryant (20-12) scored the first bucket of the game 1:15 in, when senior captain Lynne-Ann Kokoski (Hatfield, Mass.) fed the ball to sophomore standout Kelsey O'Keefe (Warren, Mass.) just outside the paint. With nowhere to go, O'Keefe turned to rookie Siamone Bennett (Newburgh, NY) on the post for the layup.

WOMEN FALL TO TOP-SEEDED STONEHILL, 90-79, IN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP SUNDAY AFTERNOON

The Skyhawks (26-4) took advantage of a plague of Bryant turnovers early in the half, going up 17-4 after back-to-back three-pointers from Kristen McWhirter less than six minutes into Sunday's Championship game.
It took Bryant (20-11) the opening seven minutes to adjust to the fast pace set by Stonehill, but three straight treys from sophomore leading-scorer Kelsey O'Keefe (Warren, Mass.) closed the gap to 17-13.

No. 6 BRYANT UPSETS No. 2 FRANKLIN PIERCE, 78-65, TO ADVANCE TO NORTHEAST-10 TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP
RINDGE, N.H. - The thought passed through the minds of the bleacher full of Bryant faithful at halftime. But that was too soon to be thinking upset.
It nudged back in with 15:33 to play in the second frame as the Bulldogs glided down the floor, converting hard-nosed defense for a 48-41 advantage. But still, they were the six seed - the road team that had already beaten a three seed in Tuesday's quarterfinal. Could they really make it two upsets in a row?
But it finally sank in with about five minutes left in Friday night's Northeast-10 Conference Tournament semifinal against No. 2 Franklin Pierce. Bryant was going to win.
But the Bulldogs played as if they knew what would happen all along.

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The sixth-seeded Bryant University women's basketball team, backed by the eighth double-double of the year from sophomore Kelsey O'Keefe, came through in the roll of the underdog Tuesday night, posting a 64-58 victory over third-seeded Assumption College on the road to advance to Friday's Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Semifinal against Franklin Pierce.
The Bulldogs entered Tuesday's game with something to prove, having been swept by the Greyhounds in their two-game regular-season series, and with O'Keefe (Warren, Mass.) tripled-teamed from the opening tip, the Bulldogs (19-10) had to look for other scoring options on the floor. Or so it seemed.

Both teams started off slow to open the game, with Bryant (18-10) keeping a slight edge over Saint Michael's (13-15) through the first nine minutes. The Purple Knights tied the score at 14-14 off a Meghan McCormack layup with 11 minutes to play, but two successful free throws from Kelsey O'Keefe (Warren, Mass.) put the Bulldogs back on top, where they would stay for the remainder of the frame.

EASTON, MA - Despite a career-high 25 points from senior guard Lynne-Ann Kokoski (Hatfield, MA), the Bryant women's basketball team dropped an 87-75 Northeast-10 Conference game at Stonehill College Tuesday night. The loss drops Bryant's record 16-10 on the season (11-10 NE-10) as Stonehill, which got a game-high 27 points from 6-3 junior Kelsey Simonds, avenged an earlier season loss to the Bulldogs back in December.

WOMEN TAKE DOWN DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT, 77-72, ON SENIOR DAY
SMITHFIELD, RI - The lone Bryant senior on the court Saturday afternoon, captain Lynne-Ann Kokoski (Hatfield, Mass.) walked off the floor with two seconds showing on the clock in what was possibly, but not likely, her final game within the friendly confines of her home court, the Chace Athletic Center. She walked off - to the applause and appreciation of her team and her fans on Senior Day - just one assist short of her third double-double of the season.
But her numbers weren't the ones that mattered to the senior. The only numbers that counted were the fiery red digits on the scoreboard: Bryant 77, Southern Connecticut 72.

BRYANT CRUISES PAST SAINT MICHAEL'S, 70-41, WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT HOME
SMITHFIELD, RI - Four Bulldogs scored in double figures Wednesday night, as the Bryant University women's basketball team rolled to a 70-41 win over Saint Michael's College at the Chace Athletic Center.
The Bulldogs (15-9, 10-9 Northeast-10) raced out of the gates and took immediate control of the game over the Purple Knights (13-10, 9-9).
Bryant went up 10-2 with 15:55 to play when senior captain Lynne-Anne Kokoski (Hatfield, Mass.) forced a turnover from Allison Dunn in the Bulldog key and converted it for a three-point play, getting fouled on the way up to a fastbreak basket at the other end and making good on the resulting free throw.

BRYANT WOMEN FALL TO AIC IN DOUBLE-OVERTIME THRILLER, 76-74, DESPITE PAIR OF DOUBLE-DOUBLES
SMITHFIELD, RI - As the buzzer sounded, it fell. An off-balance attempt from one leg as the clock ticked down to zero, the three-point shot clanked off the backboard and swayed in the net as it passed through, tying the game yet again and sending the matchup into double overtime at the Chace Athletic Center Saturday afternoon, 68-68.
As the basket fell in, it seemed like the heroics of the Bryant University women's basketball team - starting with senior captain Lynne-Ann Kokoski (Hatfield, Mass.)'s buzzer beater to force a second overtime and continuing with double-double performances from freshman Siamone Bennett (Newburgh, NY) and sophomore Kelsey O'Keefe (Warren, Mass.) - would finally win out in front of a home crowd of 696 on Basketball Alumni Weekend.

Both teams were tied at 29-29 at the half but a 13-1 run to open the second half by the Ravens sent Franklin Pierce onto victory. The Bulldogs will host AIC this Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

BRYANT FALLS SHORT AT BENTLEY, 59-58, DESPITE 14-POINT CHARGE IN FINAL MINUTE
WALTHAM, MASS. - As the clock ticked below the one-minute mark Saturday afternoon at Bentley College's Dana Center, the Bryant University women's basketball team was faced with a near-impossible task: erasing a 56-44, 12-point deficit.
At least everyone away from the bench thought so.
Not the Bulldogs. In fact, they refused to believe it so much that they nearly pulled it off, silencing the Falcons' more than 1600 fans as they closed the scoring gap with each passing second.
But despite a 14-point charge in the last 60 seconds of regulation - led by back-to-back-to-back 3-point field goals from freshman Lindsey Hudspeth (Mount Laurel, N.J.) - there would be no fairytale ending for the Bulldogs, who fell just short of what would have been their first-ever season sweep of rival Bentley College, 59-58.
