Karen Healy Named Women's Lacrosse Coach
January 26, 2005
Karen Healy, a former standout lacrosse player at Syracuse University, has been named head women's lacrosse coach at Bryant University. The announcement was made January 26 by Director of Athletics Dan Gavitt. Healy replaces Wynne Lobel who stepped down from the position for personal reasons.
Healy comes to Bryant after serving as the Assistant Program Director at MetroLacrosse, Inc., a Boston-based organization that provides free lacrosse for the youth in Boston's historically underserved communities.
A native of Freeport, N.Y. where she was a high school all-American in 1997, Healy was a two-time second-team all-American at Syracuse University. She helped lead the Orangewomen to three NCAA Championship appearances and earned Second Team Big East All-Conference honors during her senior year.
After graduating from Syracuse in 2002 with a degree in African American studies, Healy was an assistant coach at UMass-Amherst for two seasons (2003, 2004).
